The International League selected Durham outfielder Brandon Guyer as their Batter of the Week for the period from June 13-19.

Guyer is the fourth member of the Bulls to win an IL weekly award this season (Alexander Torres, April 11-17; Justin Ruggiano, May 2-8; Felipe Lopez, May 16-22.

Guyer didn’t dominate any one category during the week, but he had very solid numbers in all stat categories to help the Bulls stay in the lead in the IL South Division.

In six games during the week, Guyer hit .409 with a double, triple and home run, 7 RBI’s (3rd in IL), six runs scored (Tied-1st), and a pair of stolen bases (Tied-2nd).

Guyer produced two three-hit games during the week, including a 3-for-5, 4-RBI, 3-run effort at Gwinnett.

Guyer has been one of the League’s best hitters this season, with the proof being his .323 average (5th in the IL), .540 slugging percentage (4th), and 47 runs scored (Tied-4th).

Guyer, 25, was the Chicago Cubs Minor League Player of the Year in 2010 with Double-A Tennessee. The Southern League All-Star was traded to Tampa Bay in the offseason as part of the trade involving Matt Garza.

Guyer is a native of West Chester, Pennsylvania.

The Columbus Clippers ended their homestand with a 10:35 a.m. start against the Durham Bulls.

Usually these early morning starts of 10:35, 11:35 produce error-filled, all-offense for both teams.

But Tuesday game was played to the best by both teams.

Clippers second baseman Jason Kipnis had a two-run homer and a double in a 5-3 win over Durham to complete the four-game series sweep.

The Clippers are in first place in the IL West Division with a league-best record of 32-14.

The Clippers pitchers were on their game as Scott Barnes (3-1), Marty Popham and Nick Hagadone (1st save) all shutdown the IL South Division leaders.
