HIGH SCHOOL BOUNCE: Bing, Jones lead Mifflin to win over Beechcroft, 56-44

Game report from Stuart Mason

J Murrell and Mifflin took care of Beechcroft

Both the Beechcroft Cougars and the Mifflin Punchers are having disappointing seasons, but when the two teams get together, they usually have a good basketball game.

Friday’s game between the two City North rivals was a good game with a Mifflin putting the game away in the third and fourth quarters to beat the visitors, 56-44.

The Cougars playing without Kevin Chappele, only had one consistent scorer all night in Khaleed Franklin with 18 points.

The Punchers (5-9, 4-6) started to get a hold on the game behind the scoring of Javonte Bing who scored 9 points in the second quarter to give his team a 30-21 halftime lead.

Mifflin also received a good floor game from forward LaQuan Jones, the HIGH SCHOOL BOUNCE  Buckeye Muffler & Brake Shop Player of the Game, who had 11 points and helped shut down Beechcroft big man Maurice Hale who scored just 4 points.

The Cougars, who were swept this basketball season by Mifflin, drop to 3-8 overall, 3-5 in the City North.

J Murrell, who did have to score alot of points, helped shut down Hale on the inside as well.
