Faulk helps lead U.S. over Kazakhstan in OT at world championships

The United States hockey team improved to 3-1-1 in Group A of the hockey world championships in Helsinki after a 3-2 win in overtime on Friday.

Justin Faulk of the Carolina Hurricanes scored a goal just four minutes into overtime for his second lamp-lighter of the game.

Blue Jackets’ Johnson helps USA in rout of France


New Columbus Blue Jackets star Jack Johnson is making a name for himself on the world hockey stage as well.

Johnson, Bobby Ryan, Max Pacioretty, Jim Slater and Jeff Petry all scored a goal in USA’s 7-2 rout of France in the Group A game.

New York Islanders forward Kyle Okposo scored two goals for the U.S. team in the first game of the world hockey championship in Helsinki.

The USA plays Canada on Saturday (today).

The always-tough Canadians won their opener vs. Slovakia, 3-2.
