United Football League to delay start of season

With the National Football League trying to end its lockout and get training camps and preseason games underway, the United Football League has announced that it will be pushing back the start of its season from August to September.

The schedule switch does not help the UFL which has lost more than $100 million in the first two years of its existence.

The UFL has teams in Omaha, Hartford, Norfolk, Las Vegas and Sacramento.

The league had hoped to gain viewers and fans during the NFL lockout, by scheduling early-season games on Sundays.

Maurice Clarett had a nice return to football. He had a short kickoff return and almost blocked a punt in his first football game since leading the Ohio State Buckeyes to the 2002 national championship.

His teammate Jeff Garcia, had a 12-yard touchdown pass to another former NFL veteran Robert Ferguson with just 6 seconds remaining to lift the Omaha Nighthawks to a 27-26 United football League win over Hartford before a nice crowd of 23,067 fans.
