Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Toney Clemons caught 4 passes for 31 yards in Saturday’s 37-17 loss to Ohio State on Saturday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio.

Clemons knows the Buckeyes quite well. He grew up in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, which is northeast of Pittsburgh and was invited to their Junior Day as a 2007 football recruit.

Clemons said that “Ohio State was a team I grew up wanting to play against when I was little. I was fortunate to get a chance to do it-twice.”

And Clemons took two losses. He played two seasons at Michigan (2007, 2008) before transferring to Colorado in 2009. In his freshman year in Ann Arbor, Ohio State visited and won 14-3. In 2008, Michigan played in Ohio Stadium and left with a 42-7 whipping. Clemons, played in 19 games with three starts while at Michigan, did not register a stat in either game against the Buckeyes.

With Saturday’s loss in Columbus, Clemons has faced Ohio State three times and is 0-for-3.

Jack Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead designed and starting building the course in 1972; the design was formed in 1974.  Tournament play began for the 1976 PGA Tour season with Roger Maltbie as the winner in a playoff with runner-up Hale Irwin.

Muirfield Village Golf Club was the brainchild and work of Jack Nicklaus, a native of the Columbus, Ohio area (Upper Arlington). The land was bought in 1966, but construction didn’t began until July 28, 1972. The golf course is situated on 220 acres, which includes an 11-acre driving range. The course was officially dedicated on Memorial Day, May 27, 1974-with an exhibition match between Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf. Nicklaus scored a 6-under 66, which stood as the course record until 1979. A Columbus Pro-Am on august 11, 1975, was the first event held at Muirfield.

This will be the 35th Memorial Tournament on the par 72 course.

The course yardage has changed over the years starting in 1976 at 7,027 to it’s current 7,265.

In course difficulty on the PGA Tour for 2009, it was ranked 6th out of 51.

Muirfield Village has also hosted the 1986 U.S. Junior Amateur, the 1987 Ryder Cup Matches, the USGA’s 1992 United States Amateur Championship, the 1995 Wendy’s Three-Tour Challenge and the 1998 Solheim Cup.
