The Africentric Nubians led by Ohio State recruit Raven Ferguson reclaimed the Girls City Championship over the weekend.

The seniors on Africentric’s team have played in the City Championship game all four years of their careers.

Matter-of-fact, the Nubians have had a varsity team for eight years, won five City League titles and played in the championship game six times.

The Nubians defeated the Northland Vikings 60-52 with a fourth quarter filled with key plays to seal the win in a game played at Mifflin High School.

Northland had been 18-0 and seeded #2 in the Division I girls tournament coming into the game.

The 18-2 Nubians were the same team that won four straight City League championships before losing to Brookhaven last year.

Ferguson was a force in the game, scoring 22 points, with nine rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals.

In the fourth quarter, the Nubians made 8 of 10 free throws to seal the game.

The Vikings were led by Tatiana Chapple and Symone Denham who scored 15 points each.
