Ohio beats Marshall in tournament

The Ohio Bobcats traveled to Huntington, West Virginia to take on an old rival, the Marshall Thundering Herd in the basketball tournament.

D.J. Cooper’s layup with 1:30 to go provided the final points and gave the Bobcats a 65-64 win in the first-round of the tourney.

DeVaughn Washington led the Bobcats (19-15) with 17 points and Cooper had 10 points with nine assists.

Ohio trailed 36-33 at the half.

Tirrell Baines had 18 points and Damier Pitts 17 for Marshall and Nigel Spikes grabbed 19 rebounds as the The Herd ends the year at 22-12.

Washington, Cooper help Ohio end Kent State’s home win streak

The Ohio Bobcats received a balanced effort in their 88-87 overtime win at Kent State.

The win for the Bobcats (16-13, 8-6 MAC) helped snap the 13-game home victory streak for the Golden Flashes (19-10, 10-4 MAC).

DeVaughn Washington scored 20 points, D.J. Cooper had 14 assists, Ivo Baltic dropped in 16 points and Nick Kellogg 15 for the Bobcats.

Freeman, Washington lead Bobcats to win over BG

Tommy Freeman and DeVaughn Washington led the Ohio Bobcats to a 70-60 victory over MAC rival Bowling Green.

Freeman scored 20 points, while Washington scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Ohio improves 15-13, 7-6. BGSU drops to 12-16, 7-6.

In OT, Ohio survives Winthrop

DeVaughn Washington scored 25 points and Tommy Freeman helped out with 21 to lead Ohio over Winthrop in the BracketBuster game, 77-74 in overtime.

Ohio improves to 14-13 while Winthrop drops to 12-15.

Ohio loses close game to Western Michigan

The Western Michigan Broncos (13-10, 6-4) beat the Ohio Bobcats (12-13, 5-6) in a Mid-American Conference game, 85-83.

Flenard Whitfield scored 27 points and 11 rebounds to fuel the Broncos effort.

D.J. Cooper led Ohio with 17 points and DeVaughn Washington scored 16 points with 11 rebounds.
