A pair of 6-6 teams will be playing in the Music City Bowl in Nashville (today) on Friday, December 30.

Wake Forest, under head coach Jim Grobe, defied all the predictions in the Atlantic Coast Conference by going to a bowl game. The Demon Deacons were picked to finish last.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs were expected to have a better record and a better bowl. Head coach Dan Mullen has yet to turn things around in Starkville, Mississippi.

Both teams are vying for a winning season.

Wake Forest did not play well down the stretch as they lost four of the last five games. The Demon Deacons are playing in their first bowl game since 2008 and are looking for their first winning season since then.

The Bulldogs are 9-6 in bowl games, which included a 52-14 win over Michigan in last year’s Gator Bowl. This is the second straight year that Mississippi State has made it to a bowl game, the first time since 1999-2000 that the school has gone to back-to-back bowls.
