Unbelievable! Dodgers file for bankruptcy

Frank McCourt (courtesy of LA Dodgers)

One of Major League Baseball’s most-historic franchises continues to make bad press.

The Los Angeles Dodgers file for bankruptcy protection in a Delaware court earlier in the week. Owner Frank McCourt blamed Major League Baseball for refusing to approve a multibillion-dollar TV deal had worked out and counted on to keep the franchise afloat.

The team is in the red, with former players filing claims that they are owed money by the team. News reports have it that Hall of Fame announcer Vin Scully is owed more than $150,000 as part of his contract, court documents have shown.

The filing comes just days before the the team is about to meet another payroll deadline by the end of the month.

McCourt is possibly facing a MLB takeover by the Commissioner’s Office.
