Cavaliers beat Pistons; Gibson leads way

The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Detroit Pistons 110-101 in a “chippy” game that Ryan Hollins and Charlie Villanueva were ejected.

Villanueva became tied up near the basket with Hollins of the Cavs’ with 5:47 remaining in the game. They pushed each other in the face before being separated. Villanueva left the Pistons locker room trying to get into Cleveland’s but was stopped by police.

Daniel Gibson scored 17 points for Cleveland .

Cavaliers 97 Pistons 91 in game between NBA-lottery teams

The Cavaliers and Pistons have gone from annual playoff teams in the NBA to lottery pick contestants.

The Cavs are finding out which players that they can help them in the future.

J.J. Hickson, one of the Cavs’ best big men and new point guard Baron Davis helped fuel the team’s most recent win, 97-91 over the Detroit Pistons in Quicken Loans Arena, breaking a four-game losing streak.

Hickson, who is the new power forward, scored 24 points and 15 rebounds.

Davis, is becoming the Cavs’ new late-game scorer that has been lacking since LeBron James picked up and left for Miami last summer.

Davis’ three-point goal with 9.9 seconds remaining clinched the game one play after fellow backcourt mate Daniel Gibson hit a 17-foot jumper to give Cleveland a 94-91 lead.

Davis finished with 16 points.

Golden State beats Cavaliers 116-98

The Golden State Warriors sent the Cleveland Cavaliers to a ninth straight loss, with a 116-98 win.

Monta Ellis scored 32 points, David Lee scored 22 and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead the Warriors.

Antawn Jamison scored 21 points and had five rebounds for the Cavs, who have lost 19 of their past 20 games. J.J. Hickson chipped in with 17 points.

The Cavs have several injured players: Leon Powe will miss six weeks with a torn meniscus in his right knee; Anderson Varejao has a sprained right ankle; Anthony Parker has a stiff back and Daniel Gibson has a sprained right ankle.

Dallas overcome injuries to beat hurting Cavs, 104-95

The Dallas Mavericks came into the game hurting and so did the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Dallas overcame their injuries to beat the Cavs at Quicken Loans Arena, 104-95.

The Mavs were playing without Dirk Nowitzki and Caron Butler.

The Cavs played without Anderson Varejao and Daniel Gibson.

Dallas is 25-8 on the season while Cleveland has lost seven in a row and 17 of the past 18 and drops to 8-26.

Shawn Marion led Dallas with 22 points, while Antawn Jamison scored a season-high 35 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Bulls rally, hold off Cavs, 100-91

Derrick Rose scored 28 points and dished out 11 rebounds as the host Chicago Bulls won for the 13th time in 15 games holding off the Cleveland Cavaliers 100-91.

The Bulls trailed by 10 points against Cleveland, who were without three of their best players, Anderson Varejao (broken cheekbone), Mo Williams (left hip flexor strain) and Daniel Gibson ( left thigh contusion).

Rallying from the 10-point deficit, Chicago outscored Cleveland 32-9 in the third quarter and hung on after nearly blowing a 15-point lead in the fourth quarter, sending the Cavs to their 16th loss in the past 17 games.

Luol Deng had 23 points and Carlos Boozer scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Chicago.

Cleveland was led by J.J. Hickson with 21 and Antawn Jamison scoring 19.
