The Cleveland Cavaliers played Saturday’s game without Antawn Jamison (sprained knee), Anthony Parker (sprained fingers on right hand), Mo Williams (groin) and Anderson Varejao (ankle).

Head coach Byron Scott would not except excuses for not winning the game. CSKA Moscow won the exhibition contest, 90-87. The Cavs fall to 4-2 in the preseason.

Cleveland has two preseason games remaining. The Cavaliers play Philadelphia on Tuesday night in Cincinnati and will play Milwaukee on Thursday night in Columbus.

Ramunas Siskauskas scored 22 points and Jamont Gordon chipped in with 19 to lead CSKA Moscow, which finished its tour of games against the NBA with a 1-2 record.

CSKA Moscow, a European League powerhouse team, lost to Miami and New Orleans this past week.

Daniel Gibson scored 21 points to lead Cleveland in scoring. He was backed by Ryan Hollins with 17 and Ramon Sessions with 14.

Cavaliers welcome back Mo Williams to practice; cut roster to 17

The Cleveland Cavaliers received a boost during Wednesday’s workouts.

Guard Mo Williams made it through his first full practice of the preseason after being slowed down by a groin injury.

Williams strained his groin shortly before the Cavaliers opened training camp. He is expected to carry more of the scoring load this season following LeBron James’ departure.

Cleveland plays in Pittsburgh against San Antonio Thursday (tonight) before hosting CSKA Moscow on Saturday in Quicken Loans Arena.

Head coach Byron Scott has said that forward Anderson Varejao is questionable for the Spurs’ game. He has been sidelined with an ankle sprain and recently missed nine days of training camp following his grandfather’s death down in Brazil.

The Cavs have sliced their roster from 19 to 17 players by waiving guard Cedric Jackson of Cleveland State and forward Tasmin Mitchell of LSU.
