Blue Jackets add goaltender LeNeveu to roster as emergency

The Columbus Blue Jackets have added David LeNeveu to the roster on emergency recall from the Springfield Falcons, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate.

LeNeveu (LEH-neh-voo) 27, has a record of 10-10-2 with a 2.82 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage in 22 games with the Falcons this season. He has a record of 97-126-23 with a 2.82 GAA, .900 save percentage and seven shutouts in 253 career AHL games with Springfield, Utah, San Antonio, Hartford and Iowa.

He appeared in 67 games for Salzburg of the Austrian League in 2009-10, posting a 2.58 goals-against average, .906 save percentage and two shutouts. LeNeveu was 6-2 with a 2.17 GAA in nine playoff games to lead Salzburg to the Austrian Championship.

A native of Fernie, British Columbia, LeNeveu was Phoenix’s third pick, 46th overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft. He posted a record of 5-9-2 with a 3.38 GAA and .888 save percentage in 21 games with the Coyotes from 2005-2007.

The Red Wings defeated the Coyotes in Glendale, Arizona. Jimmy Howard turned in an outstanding performance and Tomas Holmstrom and Pavel Datsyuk each had a goal and an assist as Detroit beat Phoenix and took a 3-2 lead in the first-round series.

Howard, coming off a shutout, finished with 30 saves including two huge stops on Martin Hanzal’s breakaway with the score tied 1-1.

Henrik Zetterberg scored for the sixth time in the series for Detroit.

Mikael Samuelsson (nhl)

Mikael Samuelsson scored twice and added an assist, and Vancouver routed Los Angeles to grab a 3-2 series lead.

Daniel Sedin and Samuelsson scored 5 minutes apart in the second period to chase LA goalie Jonathan Quick.

Henrik Sedin, who led the NHL in regular-season points, set up both  second period goals.

Evgeni Nabokov (nhl)


Joe Pavelski scored 10:24 into overtime and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 33 shots, giving top-seeded San Jose a 2-1 victory over Colorado in Denver tying the series at 2-2.

All four games have been decided by a goal, the last three going into overtime.

On the game-winner, Pavelski gathered a loose puck deep in Colorado’s zone and beat Craig Anderson with a shot into the right corner.

Anderson has seen 148 shots over a span of three games. He had 43 saves Tuesday night.


Henrik Zetterberg (nhl)

Jimmy Howard had a 29-save shutout and Henrik Zetterberg scored 2 goals to lead Detroit to a 3-0 win over Phoenix in Detroit to even the series at 2-2.

Pavel Datsyuk also scored for the Red Wings.

Ilya Bryzgalov made 32 saves for the Coyotes.


David Legwand (nhl)

David Legwand scored the go-ahead goal and had two assists, as Nashville to its first 2-1 lead ever in an opening round series.

The Predators have never won more than two games in any of their first four playoff appearances.

Joel Ward, Shea Weber and Martin Erat scored for Nashville as well. Erat had a penalty shot goal.
