COLUMBUS CITY LEAGUE: Centennial dominates Beechcroft, 78-46

The Centennial Stars beat Beechcroft in a City League North Division game on Friday night, 78-46.

Boo Osborne led the way with 18 points, 10 assists, while Gyai Gyamerah added 16 points for the host Stars who improved to 5-1 overall, 5-0 in the City League North.

Patrick Ngene, the Linden transfer, led the Cougars with 18 points.

Beechcroft drops to 2-4, 2-3.

COLUMBUS CITY LEAGUE FOOTBALL, Week 4: Hale leads Beechcroft’s 55-15 shellacking of Centennial



Columbus Centennial High School, located on the corner of Bethel and Godown roads on the North side of the city, has only had two winning seasons in its history since the school opened in 1976.

It looks like they’ll have to wait for the third winning season in another year as they dropped to 0-4, after Friday’s 55-15 loss to visiting Beechcroft.

With the win, the Cougars go to 2-1, 1-0 in the City League North Division. Centennial drops to 0-1 in the same division.

The Cougars lead by quarterback Maurice Hale, accumulated 507 yards of total offense in the rout.

Hale, himself totaled 331 yards of the offense with four touchdowns.

Beechcroft scored double digits in all four quarters: 14 in the first, 15 in the second, 14 in the third and 12 in the fourth.

COLUMBUS CITY LEAGUE FOOTBALL: Hale leads Beechcroft past Dublin Jerome



Beechcoft QB Maurice Hale showed why he is one of the top quarterbacks in the Columbus City League, by throwing for 268 yards and two touchdowns in an 18-10 win over Dublin Jerome, who falls to 0-2.

Hale rushed for 117 yards for the Cougars who built up a comfortable 18-3 lead into the fourth quarter.

Jerome had on bright spot, blocking a punt and returning it for a touchdown with two minutes left in the game.



COLUMBUS CITY LEAGUE FOOTBALL: Mifflin beats Westland in high-scoring affair, 53-38



The Mifflin Punchers got their first win of the football season, 53-38 at Galloway Westland.

Javonte Bing threw for four touchdowns and rushed for three others to even the Punchers record at 1-1.

Kamaron Green, who is an All-City defensive back, starred at wide receiver with 12 receptions for 168 yards.

The 1-1 Cougars were led by Jalen Brown, who rushed for 256 yards.

Westland was outgained by the speedier Punchers, 571-445 total offensive yards.

Mifflin put the game away with 33 points in the second half, 14 in the 3rd quarter and 19 in the 4th.

HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: Collins leads Stallions over Beechcroft

The DeSales Stallions got off to a good start at Beechcroft and never looked back on Saturday.

The Stallions led 11-5 after the first quarter, 26-21 at the half and 41-32 after three.

Taz Collins scored 18 points to led the way for the Central Catholic League team and Darrien Scott added 16 in the non-league game.

DeSales made 24 of 26 from the free throw line.

The Stallions go to 7-9 on the season and the Cougars drop to 4-12.

Khaleed Franklin led Beechcroft with 14 points.
