The Columbus Academy Vikings dropped a close game to the Heath Bulldogs in Mid-State League action on Saturday.

The Vikings led 12-10 at the end of the first quarter.

Heath rallied to go up 24-19 at the half.

Academy came back to trail by 1, 33-32 at the end of three quarters.

Heath, however took control in the fourth, outscoring Academy, 22-15.

Tim Eldridge led the way with 14 points and Zach Ratcliff chipped with 13.

The Columbus Academy Vikings beat the visiting Newark Catholic Green Wave on Tuesday night, 66-57.

The Vikings were led in scoring by Daniel Aronowitz with 22 points, Tim Eldridge chipped in with 18 and Zach Ratcliff had 10 in the win.

The Mid-State League Ohio Division battle saw Academy improve to 9-4 overall, 5-3; Newark Catholic drops to 7-6, 4-4.

The Bexley Lions escaped the Columbus Academy Vikings 76-72 Friday night in a Mid-State League Ohio Division game.

The Lions outscored the Vikings 23-7 from the free-throw line.

Zach Ratcliff scored 19 points and Daniel Aronowitz 18 for the Vikings, who used a 16-6 run to take a 72-71 lead with a minute left in regulation.

The host Lions were led by Jon Primes who scored 10 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter. Jalen Robinette, his teammate chipped in with 19 points.

Bexley improves to 7-5 overall, 3-4 in the league. Academy falls to 8-4, 4-3.

Megasportsnews.com broadcasted its second high school basketball game of the season Saturday night as Hebron Lakewood was taking on Columbus Academy in Gahanna, Ohio.

The two schools, members of the Mid-State League Ohio Division, which also includes: Bexley, Granville, Heath, Licking Valley, Newark Catholic and Whitehall.

The Lancers of Lakewood came into the game having a miserable season at 0-9 overall, 0-5 in the league.

The Columbus Academy Vikings hit the hardwood with a 6-3 record, 2-2 in the league.

From the outset of the game, Academy dominated all aspects in route to a 66-50 win.

Academy jumped out quickly at 11-0 when Lakewood took a timeout at 4:36 of the first quarter. The quarter finally ended with the Vikings up 19-7, forcing the Lancers into 10 turnovers in the first quarter using a full court press mixed in with various zone defenses.

Getting off to a bad start was not the only bad omen for the Lancers, their top player Ross Watts, got into early foul trouble and never scored a point and only took two shots the entire game.

Columbus Academy cruised from their, leading 32-17 at the half, 58-33 at the end the three and the final of 66-50.

The Vikings defensively forced 19 turnovers and only committed 10 themselves. They clearly had a height advantage and played at a quicker pace which affected the smaller Lancers.

Academy had balanced scoring in the victory.

Daniel Aronowitz scored 15 points to lead the way. Zach Ratcliff, who was the ohcsports.com Player of the Game for Academy had 14 points. Austin Peterman added 11 and Tim Eldridge chipped in with 10.

The Lakewood Lancers were led by reserve forward/center Joe Cramer, who was selected as their ohcsports.com Player of the Game. Brandon Haggerty added 13 and Austen Morgan scored 12.
