Brad Keselowski had a dominating run to win the Nationwide Series race at the Chicagoland Speedway this past weekend.

It was his third win of the season. He is the Nationwide Series defending champion. It’s also his first win since returning to the series three races ago. He had sat out three after suffering a broken ankle.

Ohio native Sam Hornish Jr. finished a career-best fifth.

Keselowski capitalized on leader Carl Edwards’ running out of gas on pit road on lap 124 of 200 total.

Keselowski took a commanding lead and was never challenged. Edwards ended up finishing second.

Dario Franchitti wins IRL Chicagoland race on good pit strategy

Actress Ashley Judd’s husband, Dario Franchitti’s pit strategy paid off, in helping him win the IndyCar series race at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois Saturday night.

There was a caution with 31 laps to go, which allowed all leaders to make a final pit stop.

Franchitti’s crew gambled by not changing any tires during the final pit stop, gaining eight spots in the pits and sending him out in the race lead.

It was a very rough night for IRL series points leader Will Power, who was running amongst the leaders when he abruptly went to pit road for an extra fuel stop with five laps left in the race. He ended up finishing a disappointing 16th. Franchitti was trailing Power at the start of the race by 59 points in the standings.

Rounding out the top five, Dan Wheldon came in second, followed by Marco Andretti, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Tony Kanaan.

Eventhough the NASCAR Sprint Cup has an open week, Kyle Busch made sure he stayed busy by participating in the trucks series race at Chicagoland.

Busch, by the way, did win again! He withstood two late challenges for the lead from Todd Bodine and hung on for a NASCAR Camping World truck series victory at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois Friday night.

Todd Bodine finished second, with Ron Hornaday, Jr., third, Johnny Sauter fourth and Justin Lofton fifth.

Busch just came off of a fantastic week at Bristol Motor Speedway, where he won all three races.

He also has done well at Chicagoland in his career. Busch won the truck race at Chicagoland in 2009. He also has won a Sprint Cup and two Nationwide victories at the track.

Friday’s win was Busch’s fourth truck series win of the season and 20th of his career.

Todd Bodine leaves Joliet, Illinois with a 236-point lead in the trucks series over Aric Almirola, who finished sixth on Friday.
