University of Illinois’ Assembly Hall renamed to State Farm Center

The University of Illinois has sold the naming rights for Assembly Hall to State Farm Insurance Company.

The State Farm Center is the second arena in the Big Ten Conference with a corporate sponsor. In 2011, Pinnacle Bank purchased the naming rights to Nebraska’s arena for $11.2 million over 25 years.

State Farm has its headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois, 50 miles from Champaign, home of the University of Illinois.

The 30-year, $60-million agreement, for the home of the Fighting Illini basketball teams, will take effect immediately.

The 50-year-old arena is undergoing a complete renovation and will be completed in the fall of 2016.

CHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS — Everybody around the Ohio State Buckeyes football team this year, fans, media and players have said that they’ve been missing a spark on offense.

Well, that spark showed up on Saturday afternoon in Daniel “Boom” Herron, who coming off an NCAA-imposed suspension in the memorabilia-selling scandal, looked like he had not missed a beat from 2010.
