A few weeks ago, the Wright State Raiders upset the Butler Bulldogs at the Nutter Center in Fairborn, Ohio. It’s best for Horizon League teams to win their home games against Butler, because more than likely, they won’t win at venerable Hinkle Fieldhouse, home of the Bulldogs.

Butler got its revenge on the Raiders this week with a 71-63 win in Indianapolis.

Shelvin Mack scored 20 points, Andrew Smith and Sean Vanzant added 15 each as Butler (17-9, 9-5) won the Horizon League game.

Wright State falls to 17-10, 10-5 and couldn’t take advantage of the Bulldogs playing without their best player and top scorer, Matt Howard who was out with a concussion.

The Raiders, who fall to third place in the league standings, were led by Vaughn Duggins with 19 points.

Mark Lyons made two free throws with 3,4 seconds left in the game and Xavier held on to beat the nation’s runner-up team from last season, the Butler Bulldogs, 51-49.

The win by 6-2 Xavier extend’s the nation’s second-longest home-court winning streak to 28 games, tying a school record.

Butler at 4-4 has struggled out of the gate this year.

Megan Askew scored a career-high 17, and Xavier held off a pesky Middle Tennessee State team to extend their best start in the school’s history of women’s basketball.

Xavier is now 9-0.

Middle Tennessee State falls to 9-3.
