The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series moves back to the state of Michigan for the second time this summer for the Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.

The race starts at 1:00 p.m. on ESPN.

The 400-mile race will take 200 laps to complete.

MIS is situated on a 1,400-acre site and has a wide, saucer-shaped racing surface which enables drivers to emphasize pit stops and fuel mileage.

The Carfax 400 results from 2010, had Kevin Harvick using old tires and leading the final 11 laps. Harvick held off Denny Hamlin for the win. The Roush Fenway Racing Fords had a very strong run and day, finishing third through fifth with Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth.

NL DIVISION SERIES: Phillies shutdown & no-hit Reds, 4-0

Roy Halladay threw the second no-hitter in postseason history, helping the Philadelphia Phillies over the Cincinnati Reds 4-0 in Game 1 of the NL division series on Wednesday afternoon in Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

Don Larsen is the only other pitcher to throw a postseason no-hitter. He threw a perfect game for the New York Yankees in the 1956 World Series against Brooklyn. This coming Friday, October 8, will be the 54th anniversary of his amazing feat.

Halladay, the  All-Star right-hander, who tossed a perfect game at Florida on May 29, dominated the Reds from start to finish, striking out 8 and allowed only one runner, walking Jay Bruce in the fifth inning.

Halladay also contributed an RBI single at the plate.

Reds starter Edinson Volquez, who couldn’t get out of the 2nd inning, allowed four runs and four hits and had no command of his pitches.

Harvick wins NASCAR race at Michigan International Speedway

Kevin Harvick is the man to be on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit these days. However, every driver will tell you not to count out defending four-time Cup champion Jimmie Johnson.

Harvick, who leads the points race and with Sunday’s win, clinched his spot in the upcoming Chase with only three regular races left in the regular season.

Harvick’s closest competitor Sunday was Denny Hamlin, who Harvick had passed with 11 laps to go, then held on for the win. Earlier in the race, Harvick’s crew chief had him stay out on the track instead of making a pit stop during a late caution.

Richard Childress Racing, which Harvick is an employee of, has had a recent surge on the track, but they typically don’t do well at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.

Roush Fenway Racing did very well with drivers, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth finishing third, fourth and fifth.

Brad Keselowski wins Nationwide race at Michigan International Speedway

This is the 1,500th article posted by megasportsnews, com

Brad Keselowski kept telling his crew chief during Saturday’s race that he did not need a clutch.

Turns out the Nationwide Series points leader knew what he was talking about.

Keselowski, fighting a faulty clutch for most of the race, won in a convincing style Saturday in the CARFAX 250 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.

Keselowski, who is from nearby Rochester Hills, Michigan, had clutch trouble that caused his car, a Dodge to stall during one green-flag pit stop but didn’t slow him down while in full gear.

As far as the Nationwide Series points standings look, Keselowski is 347 points ahead of Carl Edwards, who finished 3.179 seconds behind in second place. Edwards barely got past Kyle Busch at the finish line.

Danica Patrick struggled most of the day, finishing four laps down in 27th place. She started 33rd but quickly fell a lap down. She lost another lap when penalized for driving above the blend line out of turn 2.
