Boise State continues to hammer opponents

Kellen Moore (courtesy of Boise State)

Kellen Moore and the Boise State Broncos continue to wrack up wins, points and embarrass opponents.

Moore overcame a very shaky first quarter to throw for 333 yards and four touchdowns to lead number 3 Boise State to hand Fresno State its first shutout in 12 years with an overwhelming 51-0 win at home in Boise, Idaho.

The Western Athletic Conference game saw Moore jittery in the first quarter, throwing an interception and fumbling.

He was able to put that aside and began to hit the favorite targets at wide receiver all over the field, Austin Pettis and Titus Young who caught two touchdown passes each.

Just a junior, Moore moved past Ryan Dinwiddie to become the all-time leader in yards passing for Boise State.

The Broncos at 10-0, (6-0 WAC), extended the nation’s longest win streak to 24.

The Boise State defense held the high-powered Bulldogs offense to 125 yards and only nine first downs.

Fresno State falls to 6-4, (4-3 WAC).

Boise State and Michigan State will begin playing a three-game series starting in 2012 with the season opener for both schools.

The matchup will feature two of college football’s up-and-coming head coaches, Chris Peterson of Boise State and Mark Dantonio of Michigan State.

The two schools announced the deal to the media on Friday. The series will include a game in Boise, Idaho in 2022 and the final matchup in East Lansing, Michigan, in 2023.

The first game is scheduled for august 31, 2012, in East Lansing and will be broadcast by ESPN.

The Broncos, who have scrutinized across the country by fans, coaches and media for not playing a tougher schedule, is making an effort to toughen their nonconference area of their schedule. In 2011-2012, the Broncos will be moving into the Mountain West Conference and will be playing better teams like Air Force and TCU and their ability to go undefeated will be tested to the maximum.

Currently, Boise State is a member of the Western Athletic Conference.
