The Northland Vikings honored their senior basketball players before playing Columbus East earlier in the week.

Getting a nice round of applause was Trey Burke, Lavonte Justice, Jakyl Cornley, Roberto Pierre and LaQuan Williams.

Also in the crowded gym were former Vikings stars, J.J. and Jared Sullinger.

The game was over before you knew it.

The Vikings were just too much for a scrappy East team who is short on depth and talent, winning 82-43.

Northland, who upped its record to 17-1, 13-0 in the City North Division, was up 4-0, and 24-6 at the end of the first quarter as East head coach Bob White used two timeouts to stop the bleeding. The Vikings used a fullcourt press and sticky defense to fuel their uptempo attack.

From there it was simply a rout, as Northland lead 48-17 at the half, 68-27 at the end of three quarters and basically just played sportsmanship in the fourth quarter by taking perimeter shots and head coach Satch Sullinger dug deep into his bench to play his reserves.

Trey Burke led the Vikings with 20, Devon Scott added 16, Kechaun Lewis knocked in 12 and Jaylen Benton scored 10.

Columbus East, who fell to a disappointing 2-17, 1-12 in the North Division, was led by Darius White with 13, Carnell Willoughby and Mycol Madison with nine points each and James Davis with 8.

Our ohcsports.com players of the game were Darius White of East and Trey Burke of Northland.
