HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: Local football teams to change divisions in 2011

There are several Columbus area football teams that will be changing divisions this fall in the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s biennial realignment based on enrollment.

Moving to Division I from Division II are Dublin Jerome, Dublin Scioto, Hilliard Bradley, Olentangy, Olentangy Orange and St. Charles.

Moving to Division II from Division I are Franklin Heights, Marion Harding, Mount Vernon, Northland, West and Worthington Kilbourne.

Other schools being affected include, Centennial and Independence moving to Division III from Division II, Bishop Ready moving form IV from V and Africentric moving from VI from V.

Saturday night Columbus area High School Basketball comes your way through our website at 7:00 p.m. as the undefeated Hartley Hawks travel to play a non-league contest against the Centennial Stars of the City League North Division.

The Hawks are 12-0 overall, 5-0 in the Central Catholic League.

Centennial comes into the contest at 9-5 overall, 7-3 in the Columbus City League North Division.

Both teams played last night.

The Hawks had to rally in the fourth quarter to beat upset-minded Bishop Ready, 60-54. They outscored the Silver Knights 21-10 in the fourth to ice the game. Eric Seifert led the way with 21 points.

The Centennial Stars lost last night at City League kingpin, Northland, 77-70. The Stars had the game until the third quarter when Northland exploded to a 23-8 advantage to take control of the game.

Leading the way for Centennial last night was Isaiah Osborne with 18 points, Elais Osborne with 13 and Wesley Russell with 12 points.
