The NHL’s New Jersey Devils will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 1995 Stanley Cup Championship on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8, 2015.

More than 20 players and coaches will reunite during those days for festivities at the Prudential Center.

The weekend gets underway on Saturday with an alumni charity game featuring the players of the 1995 Stanley Cup winning title team.

Memebers of the franchise’s first Stanley Cup team will then be honored on Sunday in a special ceremony prior to the Devils game against Metropolitan Division rival Philadelphia Flyers at 5:00 PM.

The coach of the 1995 team was Jacques Lemaire. Some of his top players included: Bill Guerin, Bobby Holik, Claude Lemieux, Martin Brodeur and Scott Niedermayer.

Longtime NHL star Guerin has retired

It appears that veteran NHL forward Bill Guerin, with the inability to land a contract this season, has retired after 18 years and eight teams.

Guerin has scored 429 goals with Pittsburgh, New Jersey, Edmonton, Boston, Dallas, St. Louis, San Jose and the New York Islanders.

The 40-year-old Guerin, spent his last 1 1/2 years with Pittsburgh scoring seven goals in 24 playoff games in the Penguins’ run to a Stanley Cup title in 2009.

Guerin also won the Stanley Cup with New Jersey in 1995.

The four-time NHL All-Star is one of the top-scoring U.S.-born hockey players of all-time. His 856 points rank him in the top 15.

Guerin was on United States teams that won the 1996 World Cup and a silver medal in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.

Guerin will always be known for his leadership, scoring touch and toughness.
