The Ohio State Buckeyes are gearing up for the 2013 season with high expectations.

Their offensive line, eventhough they lost Reid Fragel to the NFL, is as sturdy as it has been in awhile with four starters returning and sophomore Taylor Decker looking to make an impact at right tackle.

At 6’7, 315-pounds, Decker is hulking and very powerful. The Vandalia-Butler High School grad played in all 12 games last season for Ohio State.

Taylor is seeking to replace the beforementioned Fragel, an NFL Draft pick in the 7th round by the Cincinnati Bengals.

The other members of the offensive line include senior Jack Mewhort at left tackle, senior Andrew Norwell at left guard, senior Corey Linsley at center and Sr. Marcus Hall at right guard.

Going into the 2012 season, the Buckeyes offensive line was considered its weakest line as the line underachieved under former line coach Jim Bollman. But the unit came together under the tutelage of Ed Warriner and finished the season as the best in the Big Ten.

The Penn State Nittany Lions will open the 2014 college football season against the Central Florida Knights in Ireland.

It’ll be the first international game for either team.

The Gaelic Athletic Association along with officials from both schools made the announcement on Sunday in Dublin, Ireland. The game will be played at Croke Park on August 30.

The 2014 game will be the eighth American college football game to be played in Ireland.

Louisville leaves Big East for the ACC; replaces Maryland

The Atlantic Coast Conference has raided the Big East again.

On Wednesday, the presidents and chancellors unanimously voted to add Louisville as a replacement for Maryland.

Maryland announced last week that it would be joining the Big Ten in 2014.

The ACC also considered two other Big East schools, Cincinnati and Connecticut.

Adding the Cardinals brings the ACC to 14 full members, with former Big East rivals Pittsburgh and Syracuse joining conference play in 2013.

Louisville will be the seventh Big East school to leave for the ACC in the last 10 years.

Obviously, by adding Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Louisville in the past 15 months has made the ACC even stronger in football and especially in basketball.

The Indiana Hoosiers have been chosen as the top team in the Big Ten and their star, Cody Zeller was picked as the Preseason Player of the Year in a vote by conference media.

Michigan and Ohio State were picked to finish second and third respectively.

The Hoosiers return all five starters from the team that went 27-9 and reached the Sweet 16.

The 6-foot-11 Zeller, who averaged 15.6 points and 6.6 rebounds as a freshman last season is the key player in the Hoosiers success. He was a unanimous pick for the preseason All-Big Ten team with Trey Burke of Michigan, Aaron Craft and Deshaun Thomas of Ohio State and Penn State’s Tim Frazier.
