There are reports out of New York, that the Knicks will sign Baron Davis to a contract.

Davis, who is expected to agree to a contract today, was waived by Cleveland last week as part of the league’s new amnesty clause after being designated as the amnesty player.

Davis was not claimed off waivers by anyone, but chose the Knicks himself.

New York needs backcourt depth waiving their amnesty player Chauncey Billups.

The Knicks recently signed point guard Mike Bibby.

Davis will be out of action due to a bulging disk in his back.

The Raptors, showing signs of fatigue throughout the game from playing their fourth game in five nights and were without the services of Andrea Bargnani and Amir Johnson, trailed from the opening tap, due to poor shooting and bad defense, fell behind by 22 points in the first half.

The Cavaliers had a nice distribution of points with Baron Davis scoring 19 and Ramon Sessions adding 15.

The crowd of 14,886 saw Jerryd Bayless score 28 points to lead the Raptors, followed by DeMar De Roazan with 19, Reggie Evans had a season-high 15 points and 13 rebounds and Sonny Weems chipped in with 17 points.

The Cavaliers and Pistons have gone from annual playoff teams in the NBA to lottery pick contestants.

The Cavs are finding out which players that they can help them in the future.

J.J. Hickson, one of the Cavs’ best big men and new point guard Baron Davis helped fuel the team’s most recent win, 97-91 over the Detroit Pistons in Quicken Loans Arena, breaking a four-game losing streak.

Hickson, who is the new power forward, scored 24 points and 15 rebounds.

Davis, is becoming the Cavs’ new late-game scorer that has been lacking since LeBron James picked up and left for Miami last summer.

New Knicks still can’t beat the Cavs; Davis leads rally in debut

Baron Davis (file photo)

The New York Knicks have to be scratching their heads. They should be able to beat Cleveland, especially in New York.

Wrong!

Baron Davis scored 18 points in his Cavaliers debut, leading an unbelievable rally in the fourth quarter as Cleveland beat the Knicks for the 11th straight time, 119-115, ending their 26-game road losing streak.

J.J. Hickson scored 23 points and Luke Harangody chipped in with 18.

Davis, playing for the first time since being acquired from the LA Clippers last week, helped erase a 12-point Knicks lead by scoring 12 points in the final six minutes, including a three-pointer which gave the Cavs a 116-112 lead with 10.6 seconds to go in the game.

The Cavs are 3-0 against the Knicks this year.

Cavs showing improvement but Jamison likely done for season

Antawn Jamison (file photo)

The Cleveland Cavaliers have the worst record in the NBA this season. However, since ending a record-setting 26-game losing streak, the team has shown improvement with a 3-3 record and have added Baron Davis to the roster.

But they’ve suffered another blow. Antawn Jamison, their high-scoring forward, will likely miss the rest of the season because of a broken finger that required surgery and puts him out five weeks.

Jamison suffered a fractured left little finger against the 76ers on Sunday night.
