Tiger Woods, who keeps slipping in the world golf rankings due to being non-active, has yet to to begin practicing, told members of the media on Tuesday at the AT&T National in Newton Square, Pennsylvania, that he will not return to PGA Tour until his injured left knee and Achilles tendon are fully healed.

Woods did not rule out playing in the British Open, which starts on July 14, but says he will not go oversees just to show up.

“Doctor’s orders,” said Tiger Woods on Twitter on Wednesday.

Those two words told the fans, media and his fellow PGA Tour mates that Woods will miss another golf tournament, the AT&T National next week outside of Philadelphia. The former #1 golfer is still recovering from injuries to his left leg, which is still not 100 percent.

He said he would be at Aronimink to support the tournament, which benefits his foundation.

Woods is scheduled to be at Aronimink next week as the fans and tournament salutes the U.S. military. He has a news conference scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, and is expected to take part in the military opening ceremony on Wednesday out of respect for his late father who was a member of the military.

Woods has not played in a tournament since April when he finished fourth in the Masters. He has since slipped to #17 in the world.

Tiger Woods setting sights on U.S. Open return; doubtful for Memorial

Tiger Woods says he did suffer any more damage to his left leg at the Players Championship and is shooting for his return to be at the U.S. Open in June.

The world’s #8 golfer played only nine holes last week at the Players Championship, his shortest round ever, when he had to withdraw after those nine holes because he was experiencing a reaction of pain from his left knee to his left Achilles tendon which tightened his calf. Woods shot a 42 during his nine hole round.

Woods, on his website Monday, said that he just irritated the knee and Achilles. His doctors have told him to rest and receive cold water threapy and soft tissue treatment.

This year’s U.S. Open will be held June 16-19 at Congressional, a course where Woods won in 2009 in the AT&T National.

The Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, starts June 2 and Woods’ website said he was doubtful if he could play by then.
