Baltic leads Ohio over Northern Illinois, 80-73

Ivo Baltic scored 31 points and grabbed nine rebounds, both career highs, in leading Ohio University to a Mid-American Conference win over Northern Illinois.

Ohio improves to 11-12, 4-5 and Northern Illinois drops to 7-14, 3-6.

A sophomore, Baltic came into the game in Athens, Ohio, averaging 8.7 points per game, scored 21 points in the first half, leading the Bobcats to a 39-30 lead.

Xavier Silas of Northern Illinois, came into the game averaging 24.2 points a game, second in the nation and scored 25 for the Huskies.

Miami beats arch-rival Ohio in 3 overtimes

Antonio Ballard scored 26 points, hauled in 12 rebounds and played the entire 55 minutes to help Miami University beat Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

The RedHawks took the lead for good on a three-point shot by Orlando Williams with 29 seconds left in the 3rd overtime.

Ohio Bobcats routs Norfolk State, 92-56

The Ohio Bobcats routed Norfolk State, 92-56 as Tommy Freeman scored 19 points and D.J. Cooper recorded his eighth career double-double in leading the way. The game was played at the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio.

The Bobcats are now 7-6, while Norfolk State falls to 1-10.

Cooper scored 11 points with 10 assists for the Bobcats, who had their second-highest point total of the season alongside the 112-107 four-overtime loss to St. Bonaventure on December 18.

They also allowed a season low for points and field goals (18) and tied a season-high with 48 rebounds.

The Bobcats shot 51.7 percent from the field (30 of 58) while the Spartans shot only 32.1 percent (18 of 56).

Pendaris Williams scored 13 points to lead Norfolk State.

Ohio Bobcats double-up Buffalo, 34-17

Boo Jackson threw two touchdown passes, caught a scoring pass and ran for a touchdown for the Ohio University Bobcats in a 34-17 win over the Buffalo Bulls in Mid-American Conference action in Athens, Ohio.

Ohio is now 7-3 overall, 5-1 in the MAC East Division. Buffalo falls to 2-7, 1-4 in the MAC East.

Jackson opened the scoring for Ohio with a 1-yard run and caught a 26-yard scoring pass from Phil Bates on the Bobcats’ next drive.

In the second half, Jackson kept at it; throwing two 15-yard touchdown passes to Terrence McCrae.

Ohio Bobcats beats Louisiana-Lafayette, 38-31 to go to 6-3

Boo Jackson threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as Ohio University beat Louisiana-Lafayette in a non-conference game played at Pedan Stadium in Athens, Ohio.

Jackson completed 16 of 22 passes for 240 yards but suffered four interceptions. He rushed for 74 yards on 11 carries and scored on a 7-yard run in the first quarter.

The Ragin’ Cajuns, who fell to 2-6, led at one time 14-7 in the second quarter.

Ohio retook the lead for good in the fourth quarter when Jackson threw a touchdown pass to Terrence McCrae on a 13-yarder to put the Bobcats up 24-17.
