Whetstone High School graduate Akwasi Owusu-Ansah was drafted last season in the 4th round of the NFL draft, 126th overall pick from small-college Indiana University of Pennsylvania as a cornerback. IUP is an NCAA Division II football program.

Currently 23 years old, the 6’0, 207-pounder joined the Dallas Cowboys last year while recovering from shoulder surgery. When he became healthy, he played on special teams until getting hurt again.

This year with the lockout, having a new defensive coordinator and playbook to learn, Owusu-Ansah showed up at training camp actually starting over again like a rookie.

He is currently starting at free safety for America’s Team until the Cowboys can find someone with more experience.

Known to everybody as Kwasi, he graduated in 2006 from Whetstone. He is the Braves career leading rusher for yards and touchdowns and led the team to their first back-to-back winning seasons in 10 years. As a senior, Kwasi was an all-Ohio honorable mention player.
