Buckeyes 2nd half spurt too much for Northwestern

Kaleb Wesson led the Buckeyes with 22 points, 7 rebounds and stayed out of foul trouble for the second straight game

GAME/SERIES

 Ohio State is 119-46 in the all-time series against Northwestern and 69-15 in Columbus.

 The Buckeyes improve to 113-38 in Value City Arena.

 

TEAM

 Ohio State held the Wildcats to just 20 points in the first half. The last time the Buckeyes held a Big Ten opponent to 20 or fewer points in the first half was against Minnesota (1/20/18), holding the Gophers to just 18.

 The Buckeyes outscored the Wildcats in the paint, 40-22.

 The Ohio State bench outscored the Northwestern bench, 27-19.

 When the Buckeyes lead at the half, the team is 13-3 on the season.

 

CHRIS HOLTMANN

 Chris Holtmann improves to 4-0 when coaching against the Wildcats.

 Holtmann’s record against conference opponents improves to 22-11 at the helm of the Buckeyes.

 

KALEB WESSON

 Kaleb Wesson led the Buckeyes with 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

 The game marked Wesson’s 20th of the season scoring in double figures and fifth scoring 20-plus points.  Wesson’s 22 points in the contest put him at 721 for his career.

 Wesson finished 5-for-5 from the free throw line, reaching 200 made foul shots for his career (204-281).

 

KYLE YOUNG

 Kyle Young went 4-for-5 from the field, scoring eight points for Ohio State. He has made 26 of his last 33 field goal attempts (.788) in the last nine games in which he has played.

 Young grabbed four rebounds and dished two helpers for the Buckeyes.

 

DUANE WASHINGTON JR.

 Duane Washington Jr. scored eight points off the bench for the Buckeyes.

 Washington Jr. grabbed five rebounds, dished two assists and recorded a steal for Ohio State.
