Hot UD Flyers back home today to take on dangerous UMass at 3:30

DAYTON – The University of Dayton Flyers return home on Sunday, Jan. 13 when the Massachusetts Minutemen visit UD Arena.  Game time is 3:30 p.m. ET.  Dayton is 10-5 this season after coming from 22 points down to win at George Washington 72-66 on Wednesday. The University of Dayton is past the halfway point of a $72 million renovation of its Arena. The transformation of University of Dayton Arena will occur in three phases – from 2017 to 2019.
Phase II included new entrances on three of the four sides, a new box office, new seats in the 300 and 400 levels on the east side and a new and expanded concourse on the east side.

•    Behind a career-high 25 points (20 in the second half) by Jordan Davis, Dayton overcame a 22-point deficit to win its first road game in 365 days, 72-66 over GW on Wednesday.
•    After allowing 50 points in the second half of the previous two games, the Flyers held Richmond under 50 for the whole game, winning their A-10 opener 72-48 last Sunday.
•    Obi Toppin was named A-10 Rookie of the Week for the second straight time (and third time this season) with 16 points and nine rebounds (12 and 8 in the second half) vs. Richmond.
•    But Toppin’s award-winning performance was overshadowed by Josh Cunningham’s first double-double of the season (25/10).  He has scored at least 25 points in 3 of the last 5 games.
•    The 10 millionth fan to attend a Flyer men’s basketball game at UD Arena stepped through the turnstiles at the Richmond game.  UD is 11th school to cross the 10 million mark.  The others are Butler, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, New Mexico, Purdue, Syracuse and Vanderbilt.
•    Toppin is currently second nationally in field goal percentage (.702, 87-124).
•    Dayton is sixth in the NCAA and leads the Atlantic 10 Conference in FG% (.511, 429-840).
•    The Flyers are shooting .576 (133-231) over their last four games.
•    Jalen Crutcher leads the A-10 in assists (6.1) and is the only player in the A-10′s top five in assists and assist-to-turnover ratio (2nd, 2.6.  He is also fourth in 3-pt. FG’s per game (2.4).
•    Dayton had a team-record 12 dunks in UD’s 98-59 win over Detroit Mercy and Toppin set a UD record with eight dunks in the game.
•    Trey Landers leads UD in rebounding (8.1).  He is second in the A-10, and as a 6-foot-5 guard, is the shortest member of the A-10 Top Five.

•    Dayton will finish the week with games at VCU (Jan. 16) and St. Bonaventure (Jan. 19).
•    The Flyers’ next home game is Wednesday, Jan 23 against George Mason at 7 p.m. ET.
