DAYTON — The University of Dayton Flyers will begin its 24th season in the Atlantic 10 Conference on Sunday, Jan. 6 when Richmond visits Tom Blackburn Court.  Game time is 12 noon ET.  Dayton is 8-5 this season with wins in its last three games.  UD’s losses are to teams with a combined record of 56-7.  Four of the teams are ranked.

The game will be carried by WHIO Radio, and televised by NBC Sports Network.  Streaming audio, streaming video and stats will be available at

The University of Dayton is past the halfway point of a $72 million renovation of its Arena. The transformation of University of Dayton Arena will occur in three phases – from 2017 to 2019.

Phase II included new entrances on three of the four sides, a new box office, new seats in the 300 and 400 levels on the east side and a new and expanded concourse on the east side.

•          The 10 millionth fan to attend a Flyer men’s basketball game at UD Arena will step through the turnstiles at the Richmond game.  UD will be 10th school to cross the 10 million mark.  The others are Butler, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, New Mexico, Syracuse and Vanderbilt.

•          Dayton got half of its points from big men Josh Cunningham (25) and Obi Toppin (22) in last Saturday’s 94-90 win over Georgia Southern.

•          Both Cunningham (Co-Player) and Toppin (Co-Rookie) earned weekly honors from the Atlantic 10 for their performances.  Interestingly, they shared the awards with Grant Golden and Jack Wojcik of Richmond, and the quartet, along with the rest of their teammates, will open A-10 play against each other.

•          Toppin is currently second nationally in field goal percentage (.733, 77-105).

•          Dayton is seventh in the NCAA and leads the Atlantic 10 Conference in FG% (.512, 373-729).  UD is the only team with two players in the A-10 top five (Toppin and Cunningham).

•          The Flyers are shooting .590 (102-173) over their last three games.

•          Jalen Crutcher is the only player in the A-10’s top five in assists (2nd, 5.9) and 3-pt. FG% (4th, .438, 35-80), assist-to-turnover ratio (3rd, 2.5) and minutes (5th, 35.5).

•          Crutcher was Dayton’s top performer at the Battle4Atlantis, reaching double figures all three games, and averaging 15.0 points and 5.2 assists per contest.  UD was fourth at the B4A.

•          Dayton had a team-record 12 dunks in UD’s 98-59 win over Detroit Mercy and Toppin set a UD record with eight dunks in the game.

•          Trey Landers leads UD in rebounding (8.0).  He is second in the A-10, and as a 6-foot-5 guard, is the shortest member of the A-10 Top Five.

•          The Flyers go on the road at GW on Jan. 9, and then return home for UMass on Jan. 13.

•          The Massachusetts game is Dayton’s annual Hall of Fame Game.  Tip-Off is 3:30 p.m. ET.
