One of the most powerful and visible persons in the motorsports industry, NASCAR CEO Brian France was arrested in The Hamptons on Sunday evening for DUI and the arresting officers said that he was in possession of oxycodone.

France, who is 56, was stopped around 7:30 pm in Sag Harbour,New York, when police noticed he went through a stop sign.

The officers gave France a field sobriety test after suspecting that he was intoxicated. The executive failed the test miserably. It was twice the legal limit.

After searching him during the traffic stop, police found the oxycodone pills.

He was booked for DUI and was charged with a 7th degree or Class A misdemeanor charge for criminal possession of a controlled substance. France spent Sunday night in jail and was released Monday morning after his arraignment.

It is not known if the NASCAR Board will take any action against France.
