Midland, Mich.—Brandon Montgomery hit a home run and drove in four runs to lead the Great Lakes Loons to a 7-1 victory over the Dayton Dragons on Saturday night.  The two clubs have split the first two games of the four-game series.

Great Lakes scored three runs in the first inning to take an early lead when Montgomery belted his sixth home run of the year with two men on base.  They added two more runs in the third, getting three hits in the inning, to build their lead to 5-0.

The Dragons scored their only run of the night in the fourth inning when Lorenzo Cedrola led off the frame with a triple to left-center field and scored on Jeter Downs’ sacrifice fly to make it 5-1.

But the Loons answered in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run by Brock Carpenter off Dragons reliever Miguel Aguilar to make it 6-1.  In the seventh, Eric Peterson greeted Dragons reliever Andy Cox with a home run to extend the lead to 7-1 and close out the scoring.

Dragons starting pitcher Hunter Greene (3-7) worked three innings, allowing five runs on five hits with one walk and three strikeouts to suffer the loss.  The start ended a streak for Greene in which he had allowed two earned runs or less in eight straight outings.

The next Dragons home game is Wednesday, July 11 against the Quad Cities River Bandits in the start to a six-game home stand.
