Dayton Dragons (8-8, 39-45) at Great Lakes Loons (1-15, 25-59)

RH Hunter Greene (3-6, 4.18) vs. RH Max Gamboa (2-4, 4.56)

Today’s Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Great Lakes Loons (affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers) in the second game of a four-game series.

Season Series to Date:  Dayton 7, Great Lakes 1 (Dayton has won seven straight against Great Lakes).

Last GameFriday: Dayton 4, Great Lakes 2.  The Dragons overcame a 2-0 deficit, scoring two runs in the seventh inning to take a 3-2 lead as they held on in a sloppy first game of the set.  The game featured five errors and four of the six runs were unearned.  The Dragons, who had not committed more than one error in any game in exactly one month, had three including two in the fourth inning leading to both Loons runs.  Jose Garcia led the Dayton attack with two hits, two runs scored, a walk, and an RBI.  Four Dayton pitchers combined to allow just six hits and two unearned runs as Connor Bennett picked up the win.

2018 Team Notes

  • The Dragons will try for a third time to jump above the .500 mark in the second half for the first time.  They entered Thursday’s game with a 7-7 record but lost to Lake County 5-4.  The Dragons lost their first four games of the half but they have gone 8-4 since.
  • The Dragons have posted a 2.21 ERA in the month of July that ranks fourth in the league.  The Dragons are 4-2 in the month.
