MLB announces list of legends to appear at 2018 All-Star Game FanFest activities



Special Appearances to be made by Softball Olympic gold medalists


Major League Baseball today announced a lineup of current and former players from around the Majors, including the All-Star host Washington Nationals, who will make appearances, sign autographs and pose for photos with fans at GEICO All-Star FanFest from July 13th-17th at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Fans have the opportunity to receive free autographs and participate in question-and-answer sessions and clinics led by former players, all included with the price of admission. For a limited time, fans can purchase $10 tickets at allstargame/fanfest with the code FFMM.

FanFest will feature appearances by Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman, as well as 2018 All-Stars and Hall of Famers such as Johnny Bench, Andre Dawson, Rollie Fingers, Fergie Jenkins, Juan Marichal, Gaylord Perry and Tim Raines. FanFest will also welcome Olympic Gold medalists Lisa Fernandez, Jennie Finch and Natasha Watley. Additionally, the first-ever All-Star Game Most Valuable Player, Maury Wills, is scheduled to attend FanFest. Wills, a five-time All-Star, won that first-ever MVP award in 1962 at D.C. Stadium.

In addition to the 35+ former MLB players attending FanFest and the 50+attractions sprawled throughout the Convention Center, fans can win exclusive prizes by using the GEICO All-Star FanFest Experience Pass every day they visit. The Experience Pass is a digital component that allows fans to track their journey through the many FanFest activities. By scanning a personalized QR code, fans can build interactive baseball cards that show their statistics from the games they participate in. Each time they scan their code, fans are also entered to win special prizes including tickets to the All-Star Game presented by Mastercard, tickets to the T-Mobile Home Run Derby, tickets to All-Star Sunday, autographed memorabilia, merchandise discounts and more!
Each day of GEICO All-Star FanFest also carries its own theme.

Friday, July 13: Kids Day
The first 3,000 fans to arrive at FanFest on its opening day will receive a special edition Ryan Zimmerman bobblehead. At the opening ceremonies to jump-start the five-day event, youth from a local Color Guard and local Boys & Girls Clubs will sing the National Anthem. Throughout the day, kids can participate in baseball and softball clinics targeted to their younger ages, skills contests and games, a kids home run derby and a kids press conference with an MLB Legend, amongst many other activities.

Saturday and Sunday, July 14-15: Military Appreciation Weekend
To begin the weekend, Junior ROTC members will make a presentation of the colors for the National Anthem. Also on Saturday, the first 3,000 fans inside the convention center will receive an All-Star Game performance headband. Then on Sunday, the first 3,000 arrivals will receive a limited edition All-Star Game commemorative coin. MLB also will be accepting supply donations and thank you cards for troops throughout the weekend, while additionally offering a military ticket discount for all active and retired military.

Monday, July 16: Social Media Monday
On the day of the T-Mobile Home Run Derby, the first 3,000 fans to enter FanFest will receive a limited edition Bryce Harper bobblehead. In addition to the Experience Pass, any fans who share their FanFest experiences on Instagram or Twitter will be entered to win unique All-Star prizes.

Tuesday, July 17: Youth Leagues Day
To close out All-Star Week, on the day of the 89th Midsummer Classic, GEICO All-Star FanFest will host Youth Leagues Day. The first 1,000 youth players, ages 12 and under, to enter FanFest wearing their youth team jerseys will receive a special edition All-Star Game jersey patch. And the first 3,000 eligible fans overall who arrive at FanFest will receive a limited edition Max Scherzer bobblehead.

GEICO All-Star FanFest at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, which opens on Friday, July 13th and runs through Tuesday, July 17th, is the world’s premiere interactive baseball theme park with more than 50 attractions for fans of all ages. Throughout the show floor, fans will have the opportunity to meet and interact with some of their favorite players across the League. FanFest will also feature clinics taught by current and former MLB players, free autograph sessions with Nationals alumni, National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum exhibits and much more.

GEICO All-Star FanFest attractions are included in the price of admission, and the only additional costs are for concessions and memorabilia. From June 18-19, specially-priced $10 tickets for GEICO All-Star FanFest can be purchased online only at, using the promo code “FFMM.” This code expires at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19.
