Dragons losing streak reaches eight in 10-1 thrashing by Fort Wayne TinCaps on April 28

Dayton, Ohio—The Fort Wayne TinCaps scored runs in seven different innings as they defeated the Dayton Dragons 10-1 on Saturday night at Fifth Third Field.  The TinCaps have won the first two games of the series that will conclude on Sunday afternoon.

 

Hunter Greene, the Cincinnati Reds first round draft pick in 2017, started the game for Dayton and was charged with the loss. Greene threw 60 pitches over two innings, allowing six hits and four runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Greene’s fastball topped out at 100 mph.

The Dragons have lost eight straight games directly on the heels of a nine-game winning streak.

Dragons pitchers walked 10 in the game and struck out 13.

The two teams combined for 29 strikeouts as the game lasted three hours and 41 minutes, just 15 minutes short of the Dragons club record for longest nine inning game.

 

The Dragons trailed 8-0 when they scored their run in the seventh inning.  Miles Gordon tripled and scored on Jose Garcia’s two-out single.  The Dragons finished with just five hits.  No player had more than one.

In the Standings:  The Dragons record dropped to 9-11 on the season.  They are in sixth place in the Midwest League East Division, five games out of first.
