Dayton Flyers men’s basketball to play in 2019 Maui Jim Maui Invitational

MAUI, Hawaii – Continuing their commitment to enhancing the non-conference schedule and increasing national exposure, the University of Dayton Flyers were announced as a part of the 2019 Maui Jim Maui Invitational eight-team field.

The Maui Jim Maui Invitational field showcases a collection of programs that boasts a combined 190 NCAA Tournament appearances, 44 Final Four berths and an incredible 18 national championships.

Dayton will be joined by BYU, Georgia, Kansas, Michigan State, UCLA, Virginia Tech and host Chaminade for the 36th annual Tournament, which will be contested Nov. 25-27 at the historic Lahaina Civic Center on the island of Maui.

“The Maui Jim Maui Invitational has earned a reputation for showcasing powerhouse teams year over year, and we are thrilled to continue that tradition in 2019,” said Tournament Chairman Dave Odom. “The Lahaina Civic Center will host some of college basketball’s best programs, coaches and players when these eight teams converge in Maui.”

The Flyers will make their fourth Maui Jim Maui Invitational appearance. Dayton previously played in 2000, 2003 and 2013.

Dayton is 7-2 in its previous appearances at the Maui Jim Maui Invitational. In 2000, UD placed in third after upsetting No. 12 UConn and No. 6 Maryland.
