BLUE JACKETS TEAM NOTES

  • With the win, the Capitals grabbed their first lead in the series, 3-2.
  • It was the fourth time in the series that the game was decided after regulation with both teams each winning two overtime contests.  Columbus moved to 4-3 in overtimes in its playoff history.
  • The Jackets outshot the Capitals for the first time in the series, 42-29, including 16-1 in the third period.
  • Columbus killed off three of Washington’s four power play chances and have killed off 16-of-24 chances in the series.
  • The Blue Jackets recorded 33 hits and 28 blocked shots.
  • The Jackets notched their first shorthanded goal of the 2018 playoffs (fourth in franchise playoff history).  It was the first shorthanded goal since Apr. 28, 2014 vs. Pittsburgh.

 

BLUE JACKETS PLAYER/COACH NOTES

  • LW Matt Calvert scored the Jackets’ first two goals of the game, including one shorthanded, for his second career playoff multi-goal contest (Apr. 19, 2014 at Pittsburgh).  He has goals in two-straight road games (3-0-3 in five games) and 6-3-9 in 15 career playoff contests.
  • Seth Jones collected an assist and has points in four of the five games of the series (1-4-5), including all three games on the road (1-3-4).
  • RW Oliver Bjorkstrand notched his first career playoff goal (1-1-2 in 5 games in series and 1-2-3 in 10 games).
  • Ian Cole registered his second assist of the postseason (five games) and has 1-15-16 in 61 career playoff contests.
  • Alexander Wennberg collected an assist in his first game back from an upper body injury (missed past four) and has 1-1-2 in two playoff games in the series.
