COLUMBUS — Columbus Crew SC hosts Vancouver Whitecaps FC at MAPFRE Stadium today, Saturday, March 31. The match kicks-off at 3:00 p.m. ET and is set to be televised regionally on ABC-6, Spectrum Sports and BCSN2, with Neil Sika, Dwight Burgess and Clay Hall on the call. Coverage begins at 3:00 p.m. ET. Post-match coverage is set to follow exclusively on Spectrum Sports in Ohio. Tomorrow’s match also airs locally on the radio on CD102.5 FM in English, featuring simulcast audio from the television broadcast. The club’s official website,, is set to stream the English-language radio broadcast online as well as host the Spanish-language audio broadcast, with Juan Valladares behind the microphone.

After a historic win at home last week, Columbus Crew SC will host Vancouver Whitecaps FC aiming to build off its current regular-season 14-match unbeaten streak at MAPFRE Stadium in a cross-conference match Saturday at 3 p.m. ET

In a night of firsts, Columbus defender Milton Valenzuela opened the scoring with his first professional career goal. Midfielder Ricardo Clark followed up with a goal for Columbus in his starting XI debut. Finally, Pedro Santos secured Crew SC’s century goal in the all-time regular-season series against D.C. United, and the 3-1 victory.

The highlight of the night, however, came from Acura Man of the Match Federico Higuain. Higuain set up Clark’s goal with on a corner kick to cement himself in Black & Gold lore, becoming the first member of Major League Soccer’s prestigious 50-goals, 50-assists club exclusively with Crew SC.

The Black & Gold closed Week 4 atop the Eastern Conference table and landed five representatives on’s Team of the Week: Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter (coach), Higuain (M), Cristian Martinez (M), Santos (M – bench) and Valenzuela (D).

Vancouver played LA Galaxy last week in a defensive duel that ended scoreless. Crew SC has not beaten Whitecaps FC since 2011. Leading scorer for Vancouver, Kei Kamara will look  to guide Whitecaps FC to their third win of the season.

With Wil Trapp and Zack Steffen back in Columbus after their time with the US Men’s National Team, Crew SC will strive to continue their unbeaten 2018 before hitting the road for Weeks 6 and 7.

Columbus Crew SC (Soccer Club) is the first club in Major League Soccer and in 2015, Crew SC was crowned MLS Eastern Conference Champions in the organization’s 20th season. Owned and operated by Precourt Sports Ventures (PSV), it won its first MLS Cup championship in 2008 and also won the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as MLS Supporters’ Shield titles in 2004, 2008 and 2009. The 2018 campaign is the Black & Gold’s 20th season at historic MAPFRE Stadium – the first soccer-specific stadium in the United States. The club was purchased by PSV on July 29, 2013 as part of the privately held investment and management firm’s sports and entertainment business enterprise, and the club has qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs in three of the four seasons since, including winning the Eastern Conference Championship in 2015.
