MLB suspends five Minor League players for violating drug policies

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced recently that five Minor League players have been suspended following their violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Free agent Minor League left-handed pitcher Kevin Duchene has received a 100-game suspension without pay following a third positive test for a drug of abuse in violation of the Program. The suspension of Duchene will be effective immediately upon his signing with another Major League organization.

Kansas City Royals Minor League right-handed pitcher Travis Eckert has received a 50-game suspension without pay following a second positive test for a drug of abuse in violation of the Program. The suspension of Eckert, who is currently on the roster of the Single-A Lexington Legends of the South Atlantic League, will be effective at the start of the 2018 SAL season.

Toronto Blue Jays Minor League right-handed pitcher Juan Jimenez and left-handed pitcher Naswell Paulino have each received a 72-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Boldenone, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Program. The suspensions of both players, who are currently on the roster of the rookie-level Dominican Summer League Blue Jays, will be effective at the start of the 2018 DSL season.

Blue Jays Minor League right-handed pitcher Jol Concepcion has received a 60-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Boldenone, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Program. The suspension of Concecpcion, who is currently on the roster of the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Blue Jays, will be effective at the start of the 2018 GCL season.
