Dayton Flyers hosts Ohio Dominican tonight at 7:00

Men’s Basketball Exhibition Action Saturday

DAYTON – The University of Dayton Flyers host the Ohio Dominican Panthers in exhibition action on Saturday. It will be the first official men’s basketball event at the transformed UD Arena. •Game time is 7 p.m. ET.
•The game will be carried by WHIO Radio and is available with live streaming video, audio and stats at DaytonFlyers.com.

DAYTON HIRES ANTHONY GRANT
•On March 30, 2017, the University of Dayton named Anthony Grant the 20th coach in Flyer Basketball history.
•Grant, a 1987 UD alum, was most recently on the coaching staff of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder, working with athletes such as Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
•He spent the last two seasons on Billy Donovan’s staff after nine seasons as head coach at Alabama and VCU and 13 seasons as a Division I assistant coach.
THE TRANSFORMED UD ARENA
•The University of Dayton is embarking on a $72 million renovation of its arena. The transformation of University of Dayton Arena will occur in three phases – from 2017 to 2019.
•The Arena is an iconic community resource with an economic impact of upwards of $10 million annually. In addition to Flyer men’s and women’s basketball games, high school tournament games and the NCAA First Four, it is used for competitions such as the Winter Guard International World Championships, entertainment events, large-scale educational seminars and as a staging area for community projects.
•UD Arena has been the site of 117 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament games, 34 more than any other tournament host.

•Dayton returns the fourth-fewest number of minutes played in Division I (1,596). Only Pitt (648), Kentucky (890) and Austin Peay (1,392) have fewer.
•The Flyers finished 2016-17 in the NCAA Top 50 in scoring defense (48th), field goal defense (44th), 3-point field goal percentage (37th), assist-to-turnover ratio (31st), turnover margin (15th), turnovers forced (40th) and steals per game (27th).
•The 24 victories are tied for the 13th-most in a single season at Dayton.
•Dayton is one of 19 schools to have made the last four NCAA Tournaments.
•Since the start of the 2013-14 season, UD is 34-15 in games decided by five points or less.
•UD shot .493 from the floor in victories last year and .384 in its losses.
•The Flyers are 42-1 when limiting opponents to 60 points or less in the last five seasons and 8-0 this past year.
•UD has won 35 of its last 36 games when scoring 80-plus points.
•Dayton has won 43 of the last 50 games when three or more players score in double figures.
•The Flyers forced 10 or more turnovers all but one game this past year.
