Week 6 opens in the NFL with Eagles visiting the Panthers

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES AT CAROLINA PANTHERS

Week 6 kicks off on Thursday night (8:25 PM ET, CBS/NFLN/Amazon Prime) with a showdown between two 4-1 teams as the Carolina Panthers host the Philadelphia Eagles at Bank of America Stadium. The Eagles and Panthers will meet for the 10th time with Philadelphia leading the all-time series, 6-3.

Philadelphia quarterback CARSON WENTZ completed 21 of 30 passes (70 percent) for 304 yards with four touchdowns and one interception for a 128.3 passer rating in the Eagles’ 34-7 win against Arizona in Week 5. Wentz completed seven of nine passes (77.8 percent) for 121 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions for a 158.3 passer rating in the first quarter, becoming the only quarterback in franchise history to throw three touchdown passes in the first quarter of a game. Tight endZACH ERTZ ties for the NFC lead with 32 receptions and ranks second in the conference with 387 receiving yards. Carolina quarterback CAM NEWTON completed 26 of 33 passes (78.8 percent) for 355 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions for a 141.8 passer rating in the Panthers’ 27-24 win at Detroit last week. Newton has passed for at least 300 yards, three touchdowns and a 130 passer rating in each of the past two games. Defensive end JULIUS PEPPERS, who ranks fifth in NFL history with 149 career sacks, ranks second in the NFC with 5.5 sacks this season. ­
