Columbus Crew SC plays International Friendly Match tonight vs. Eintracht Frankfurt at 7:30 pm

COLUMBUS — Columbus Crew SC hosts Eintracht Frankfurt of the German Bundesliga in an international friendly at MAPFRE Stadium on Monday, July 17.The match kicks-off at 7:30 p.m. ET and is set to be televised regionally Spectrum Sports with Neil Sika, Dwight Burgess and Alex Stec on the call. Coverage on Spectrum Sports begins at 7:30 p.m. ET. The club’s official website, ColumbusCrewSC.com, is set to stream the English-language audio online. The friendly match against the Bundesliga side is classified as Special Match A for Crew SC Season Ticket Members and is included in their membership.

Eintracht Frankfurt is based out of Frankfurt, Germany and was founded in 1899. The Eagles play their matches at Commerzbank-Arena and are currently in Germany’s First Division. Eintracht Frankfurt has won the DFB-Pokal – Germany’s domestic cup – four times (1974, 1975, 1981, 1988), the Bundesliga once (1959) and the Europa League (1979-80) once. The Eagles recently reached the final of DFB-Pokal, Germany’s domestic cup tournament and finished the Bundesliga season in 11th place.

Monday’s match is the Black & Gold’s 21st international friendly dating back to 1997 and marks the seventh consecutive summer that an international opponent has visited MAPFRE Stadium. Crew SC is 11-6-3 all-time in international exhibitions, last facing Liga MX club Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz from Mexico in 2016 at MAPFRE Stadium in a clash that the Black & Gold won by a 1-0 score. The match against Eintracht Frankfurt marks the fourth time that Crew SC faces a German club. Previously, the Black & Gold faced Hamburger SV, Bayer Leverkusen and 1. FC Nurnberg defeating all three opponents by an aggregate score of 15-6.

Following the international friendly on Monday, the Black & Gold remain in Central Ohio and return to MLS action when they host the Philadelphia Union at MAPFRE Stadium on Saturday, July 22 (7:30 p.m. ET / (7:30 p.m. ET / The CW Columbus, Spectrum Sports, BCSN2, CD102.5 FM, La Mega 103.1 FM, English radio stream on ColumbusCrewSC.com).
