Tuesday’s match marks the first-ever meeting and the lone regular-season clash in 2017 between Crew SC and Minnesota United FC. The contest will be the Black & Gold’s 20th MLS match of the season. Tomorrow’s match is also set to be Crew SC’s last match before Major League Soccer’s 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup break, slated to occur from July 7-18.

During last Saturday’s match against Atlanta United FC, midfielder Ethan Finlay made his 100th regular-season start for Crew SC in 147 regular-season appearances. Finlay played 61 minutes, creating one chance and making two tackles. The midfielder is one of only three players on Crew SC’s current roster to have made 100 starts for the Black & Gold, joining Federico Higuain (135 starts for Crew SC) and Justin Meram (120 starts for Crew SC). In 2017, Finlay has made 16 appearances (12 starts), recording one goal and one assist.

Finlay is one of only four Crew SC players on the current roster to have scored at least 25 regular-season goals for the club. The other three players currently on the Black & Gold roster to have scored 25 or more goals are Federico Higuain (48 goals), Justin Meram (32 goals) and Ola Kamara (25 goals). Kamara recently reached 25 goals for Crew SC by scoring in the Black & Gold’s 4-1 victory over the Montreal Impact at MAPFRE Stadium on June 24 of this year. Kamara tied Brian McBride as the player with the second-fewest number of matches to reach 25 regular-season goals for the Black & Gold. Kamara and McBride were behind only Stern John, who reached 25 goals in just 27 regular-season appearances.

Heading into tomorrow’s match against Minnesota, Crew SC has two players among the top 10 scorers in MLS: Federico Higuain and Ola Kamara, who have each scored nine goals and are tied for eighth-most goals in the League.
