ARCA race at Toledo Speedway to be sponsored by Menards for 9th straight year

TOLEDO, Ohio (March 13, 2017) — Officials from the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) and Menards Inc. announced today that the Wisconsin-based home improvement retailer will again serve as the title sponsor of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards race at Toledo Speedway.
“Menards continues to be a great corporate partner for ARCA and a great, long-term, marketing partner for Toledo Speedway,” said Mark Gundrum, ARCA’s vice president for business development and corporate partnerships.
The Menards 200 will feature ARCA Racing Series practice and General Tire Pole Qualifying Saturday, May 20, along with an ARCA Late Model Sportsman feature event race. The Menards 200 will start at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon May 21, and is scheduled for broadcast on FS1.
“We appreciate the opportunity to once again sponsor the ARCA Racing Series and look forward to another highly competitive Menards 200 race at Toledo Speedway,” said Jeff Abbott, Menards promotions manager and spokesperson. “We’ll be selling discount tickets for this race in our stores and hope to see another full house at the track.”
Six northwest Ohio Menards stores will offer race fans the chance to “save big money” on advance ticket purchases. Discount tickets will go on sale April 10 at Menards locations in Defiance, Findlay, Holland, Oregon, Sandusky and Toledo. Menards will offer tickets for $15, a savings of $10 off the gate price. Children 6 and under are free.
The Menards 200 at Toledo marks the 76th ARCA race at the series’ home track. Six-time ARCA national champion Iggy Katona won the inaugural event at Toledo April, 21, 1963.
Expected teams and drivers for the race include 2017 Daytona ARCA winner and Ken Schrader Racing driver Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine; Cunningham Motorsports Ford drivers Shane Lee of North Carolina and Dalton Sargeant of Florida; Chevrolet driver Bret Holmes of Alabama; and California Toyota drivers Riley Herbst in a Joe Gibbs Racing entry and Zane Smith in a Venturini Motorsports fielded car. Venturini will also field a car for New York driver and 2016 Snowball Derby winner Christian Eckes.
The Menards 200 is the third of 11 races comprising the 2017 ARCA Short Track Challenge championship.
