PGA Championship: The Tiger Woods we all know surfaces; he’s three shots back

The PGA Championship first round was delayed three hours on Thursday morning because of fog. When the fog finally lifted at Whistling Straits golf course in Haven, Wisconsin, which is near Sheboygen, an old familiar face surfaced among the leaders.

Tiger Woods, who basically embarrassed himself in Akron last week placing in the 70′s out of 81 golfers, got himself up off the map and made three birdies inside 12 feet on the opening four holes. He had to birdie his final hole to break par, a 1-under 71, 3 shots off the pace.

He trails Bubba Watson and Francesco Molinari who opened at 4-under-par 68 and Ernie Els, Matt Kuchar and Nick Whatney at 4-under-par when it became too dark to continue the first round. They’ll finish today and then start the second round.
