Milwaukee Panthers Women’s Basketball News: Kamy Peppler Garners Horizon League Player of the Week Honors

INDIANAPOLIS – On Sunday, the Horizon League announced its final weekly honors for the 2023-24 season with Milwaukee’s Kamy Peppler earning the distinction of Horizon League Player of the Week following her performance in the team’s win over Green Bay on Saturday.

Peppler led the Panthers as she tied her career high with 25 points in the team’s 65-61 win over the Phoenix. The sophomore was 8-for-15 from the field including a trio of three-pointers. She was also 6-for-6 from the free throw line and went 4-for-4 from the stripe in the final 3:02 of the game.

In addition to her point total, she added two rebounds, two steals, an assist, and a block to help contribute to the team’s victory over Green Bay.

Peppler finished the regular season playing 999 minutes for an average of 32.2 minutes per game as she started in all but one of Milwaukee’s 31 contests this season. She led the team with 63 three-point field goal makes, 152 assists and 44 steals. Peppler was second on the team in overall field goal makes with 313, while she was third on the team with 48 free throw makes and seven blocks.

In 61 career games, she has 548 points, averaging 9.0 per game, while she also has 252 career assists for better than four per contest. She has 186 career field goal makes (36.5 percent), with 93 of those coming from three (31.0 percent), while adding 178 rebounds and 72 steals.

This is Peppler’s first-ever Horizon League Player of the Week recognition following a pair of Freshman of the Week nods on January 9 and February 20 during her rookie campaign.

She becomes the third Panther to earn Horizon League honors during the 2023-24 season as she joins Kendall Nead, who was named Player of the Week on December 18, while Jorey Buwalda was a three-time Freshman of the Week honoree on November 27January 8, and January 15.

Milwaukee finished the regular season with a 16-15 overall record and a 10-10 mark in Horizon League games. The Panthers enter the 2024 Barbasol Horizon League Women’s Basketball Championship as the fifth seed and will visit fourth-seeded Wright State on Thursday, March 7 for a 4:30 p.m. (CT) tip at the Nutter Center.
