Columbus, Ohio – Professional volleyball veteran Jenna Rosenthal became the first player to sign a contract with the Columbus Fury, the team announced on Monday. Rosenthal has played four professional seasons, including this past spring’s Athletes Unlimited tour.

Rosenthal was also the first Player Relations Ambassador signed to Pro Volleyball Federation, having been with the league since its inception in November 2022 helping to recruit a number of the players who have already signed with Pro Volleyball Federation teams across the league.

“Jenna brings a lot of experience to the Fury, experience that is much needed when you are building a team from scratch,” said head coach Angel Perez. “She is a proven middle blocker with lots of size who has competed internationally at the highest levels. Plus, she brings those important intangibles that we are looking for in all Fury Girls!”

Rosenthal was a 2019 Pan American Cup gold medalist, a three-time AVCA All-East Region member, a three-time All-Big East Conference First Team member, and Marquette University’s all-time leading blocker. She played professionally overseas in Finland and Germany, and spent two seasons with Athletes Unlimited.

“We are excited that Jenna is the first-ever signing for our team,” said team owner Jeff Gilger. “She was an early ambassador for the league and has been one of the league’s great supporters. Not only is she an outstanding spokesperson for the sport, but she is a seasoned professional athlete and we are excited to see her unleash the Fury when the season starts.”

Added Rosenthal: “I visited Columbus to get to know the ownership group, and something about it just felt right. This is a group of people who can bring together something special and win a championship, but more importantly, it’s about being in a city where you can feel comfortable and enjoy yourself while pursuing those goals, and Columbus ticked all the boxes!”

The Fury will continue to add talented players from across the country and the world to its 2024 roster. Each team’s roster will be 14 players by the time the 2024 regular season starts. The Fury will play a total of 24 regular season matches, 12 at home in Nationwide Arena.
