Dragons announce Homer Bailey will pitch Monday night

The Dayton Dragons have announced that Cincinnati Reds pitcher Homer Bailey will begin his injury rehabilitation assignment with the Dragons on Monday night. Bailey will get the start against the Quad Cities River Bandits at Fifth Third Field in Dayton. Game time is 7:00 p.m.

Bailey, who spent the 2005 season with the Dragons, is on the Reds diasbled list with an inflamed right shoulder. He has been on the disabled list since May 24.

Homer Bailey starts Rehab (mlb)

Bailey will be the 17th Reds player to play for the Dragons on an injury rehab assignment. In 2009, Reds first baseman Joey Votto and relief pitcher Jared Burton played for Dayton. In past years, Reds pitchers Jose Rijo, Mark Wohlers, David Weathers, Kent Mercker, Mike Stanton, Eddie Guardado, Matt Belisle, and Jimmy Haynes were among those from the Major League level to play for the Dragons.

Bailey played for manager Alonzo Powell and the Dragons in 2005. He had an 8-4 record with a 4.43 earned run average. His teammates during that season were Paul Janish, Adam Rosales, Craig Tatum and Ramon Ramirez, all of whom went on to play for Cincinnati.

Bailey made his MLB debut with the Reds less than two years after leaving Dayton. He appeared in his first big league game on June 8, 2007.
