MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: Clippers and Dragons (Wednesday results)

COLUMBUS CLIPPERS

Wes Hodges’ two-run double off the top of Durham Bulls Athletic Park’s famed Blue Monster helped the Clippers to an 8-6 victory in 12 innings Wednesday night.

Columbus had blown a five-run lead before Hodges came up with his first hit in 14 at-bats in the series.

Justin Germano allowed just two runs in five innings in his second straight spot-start for columbus.

Vinnie Pestano threw two scoreless innings and Josh Judy (2-0) followed suit, picking up the win despite pitching multiple innings on consecutive nights.

DAYTON DRAGONS

Jean Segura collected four hits to lead the Cedar Rapids Kernels to an 8-2 victory over the Dayton Dragons in the first game of a three-game series. The Kernels pounded out 17 hits in the game including 14 in the first six innings. All nine players in the Cedar Rapids batting order had at least one hit.

Cedar Rapids scored two runs in the first inning, two more in the second, and one in the third against Dragons starting pitcher Ricky Bowen (2-4) to take an early lead of 5-0.

Kernels winning pitcher was Ariel Pena, he’s 4-2.

The crowd at Dayton’s Fifth Third Field finished with six hits. Cameron Satterwhite and Henry Rodriguez each banged out two hits.
