Everybody said that it would be better if the Columbus Blue Jackets played in the Eastern Conference.

The CBJ seems to matchup better with those teams and usually had good overall records against most of the teams.

Well, the Jackets have proven everybody right.

After beating Toronto last night, 2-1 the Blue Jackets have an overall record of 31-25-5 with 67 points. They sit 5th in the tough Metropolitan Conference and 10th in the Eastern Conference. They are just 1 point behind the Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings for the 8th and final playoff spot.

Columbus, who won the season’s series against Toronto, dominated the final two periods Monday night to win the game before a disappointed crowd of 19,577 at the Air Canada Centre.

The goal scorers were Artem Anisimov and Dalton Prout. Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky almost captured his seventh career shutout but did stop 28 shots.

The Maple Leafs scored at the 15:45 mark of the 3rd period on Mason Raymond’s 17th goal of the season.

The CBJ return home tonight to play the Dallas Stars of the Western Conference at 7 pm.
